Upstate Podcast Studio opened in Kingston, NY in 2023, in the heart of the Hudson Valley, and is built on a simple observation: most podcast studios hand you a room and wish you luck.
That wasn't going to work.
Drew English has been working in film and production since 2012, shooting for brands like Netflix, HBO, NBC, Adobe, Amazon Music, and Condé Nast, and working alongside artists, athletes and celebrities including Ed Sheeran, John Mayer, Michael Phelps, and Orlando Bloom, across 7 countries and nearly every U.S. state.
When he started hosting his own podcast, he saw what was missing on the production side. So he built the studio he wished had existed and opened it to everyone else.
Every session at Upstate Podcast Studio comes with Drew on-site as your producer. Not a room monitor. Not a button-pusher. Someone who has spent over a decade behind a camera and knows what broadcast-ready content actually looks and sounds like.
The studio is located in the Stockade District in Uptown Kingston — walkable, unhurried, and about as far from a sterile production environment as you can get. That's intentional. The best conversations happen when people are comfortable.
NPR, The BBC, Vox Media, The New Yorker, and REI have all recorded here. So have local podcasters who come back every month.
The goal is the same either way: you show up, we handle everything else.
